Insights from the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report

Produced in collaboration with scientists and scientific mediation experts, members of the Ocean and Climate Platform, this publication seeks to enhance the understanding of the ocean by the widest possible audience, and most particularly policy makers, so they can make informed decisions to effectively and sustainably protect marine ecosystems.

Beyond a mere summary of the state of knowledge on marine ecosystems, this publication includes illustrations and infographics adapted from the AR6, an “ocean-climate-biodiversity” glossary, along with many examples and key figures on the interactions between marine ecosystems, climate change and sustainable development.

Highlighting the importance of marine ecosystems for the climate, marine life and human societies, this publication not only alerts on the risks associated with their deterioration but also underscores their mitigation and adaptation potential to achieve climate and environmental goals, provided that certain conditions are met.
