Plenary and working groups will facilitate regional\, interdisciplinary discussions across sectors (such as: ocean science and technology; ocean policy and sustainable development; business and industry; NGOs and civil society; donors and foundations) to identify concrete deliverables and partnerships to meet the Decade’s six societal objectives. \nThe Arctic Workshop offers a crucial opportunity to co-design mission-oriented research strategies in line with the 2030 Agenda and the Plan of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment and Coastal Areas\, focusing on Arctic countries needs and priorities in terms of transforming knowledge systems; accelerating transfer of technology; enabling training and education; and fostering science-policy dialogues. \nThe Arctic Workshop will aim to identify:\n-Knowledge gaps and regional ocean science priorities for the 2030 Agenda\n-Existing relevant partnerships/networks/initiatives and potential ones/interested partners\n-Priorities in capacity-development/training\n-Priority themes and topics to be addressed by the Decade\n-Other regional initiatives and meetings to be aligned with the Decade. \nThis workshop will be part of a continued global dialogue throughout 2020 via conference side-events\, further thematic workshops and the Decade Online Community Platform to inform the planning of the Decade. The workshop is aligned with the activities of the trilateral Canada-EU-USA Galway Statement and its Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance that will help support the UN Decade. \nThis event will provide a forum to gather approximately 100 ocean leaders/champions/key stakeholders to further discuss and prioritize the issues identified at the First Global Planning Meeting. DESCRIPTION:GLOSS is a Two-days event of dialogues and workshops for Social Sciences researchers and PhD students interested in contributing to the next UN Ocean Decade\nNovember 5-6\, 2019 – Brest\, FRANCE\n\n  \nThe two days of the conference will be divided into 3 sessions each (all in plenary) dealing with different issues which will be defined in advance by the event’s scientific committee. The framework will be the same for each session: \n→ An introduction talk (about 15 minutes)\n→ 5-6 presentations of research topics in 3 minutes\n→ Workshops “cabaret format discussion”: 6 to 8 people per table\, 1 hour\n→ A very fast synthesis of exchanges by table to catch the main ideas \nThe ultimate outcome of the event is  to  produce a contribution to the planning of the UN Ocean Decade. \nMore infos on the website
